There are many types of people in this world, and all of us are different from each other, with many ways of thinking, acting and choosing. The behavior of each one depends on how we are and what is more important to us on the value scale. There are three main factors that have an effect on the formation of a person and on the values that he or she has: what happens in the environment at the time that she or he is growing up, the advice of the people who are around that person, and the things that happen in his or her life and the lessons that can be learned from them.
One factor that is essential in the values that a person has, is the environment where he or she has grown up. If she or he has been raised in a place where something is missing, this person will value that aspect a lot in her or his future life. For example, if there is a war at the time a person is developing, that human will care about peace because he will know how awful it is to live with war. Similarly, if there has been a surrounding with a lot of something (feelings or facts), he or she will have a special appreciation for that. For instance, if a person grows up in a lovely place with animals, that person in the future will probably care about animal rights and will take care of them.
Another cause that has relation with a person´s values is the people that are around and their own values. The values are shared between people, because the behavior of a person depends on them, so it is easy to show and teach them. There are many people who say that the family is the first school of life, as the children act according what they have learned from their parents. The valuation of what person sees in others is also important. Not only the family is important for a child, but also the example of friends and teacher, who a child can look at them with admiration.
Finally, the person learns to appreciate different things according what he or she lives in the life. The problems that a person faces during life bring new teachings and values. For example, if a person has a problem because he or she needs something, and a friend helps her or him, that person will rate the friendship much more than what he or she needed. And there is always new knowledge when a person has a problem and solves it. Therefore if that person can keep going in a very good way after solving a problem, she or he will know that it is important to believe in her or his own abilities.
To summarize, people develop their values according to their life, depending on the environment where they grow up, the people that go showing them the life and sharing their own values, and the actions that people do in their lives.
